A Sacrifice Pleasing to God Cain and Abel

“Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. But Abel brought fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. He looked with favour on Abel and his offering, but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favour.”

Abel brought the best he had from his flock and it pleased God. On the other hand, Cain’s sacrifice was a half hearted effort and it did not please God. When we do things half heartedly, it does not please God. Whatever we are doing our aim should be to do our very best for God. It could be we are making a cup of tea for someone, or washing and dressing someone or just being kind to someone or feeding a needy person. We must do it whole heartedly as if we were doing it for God. This pleases God.

Dear God,

Please receive me as a living sacrifice

A living sacrifice that is pleasing to your heart

Teach me what pleases you

So that I can learn of you.

I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.
