Are you stressed out by the worries of this life?

Jesus said,
“Come to me, all you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Matthew Chapter 11 verse 28 in the Bible.

Martha and Mary.

Jesus arrives for a meal at the house of Martha. Martha is anxious and worked up. She wants her house to be clean and tidy and she wants the meal to be perfect after all it’s not everyday Jesus comes for a meal to her house. Her sister Mary arrives and decides to sit at the feet of Jesus. She is not worked up but just wants to find peace and rest by sitting in the presence of Jesus. Martha cannot take it any longer and says to Jesus “Please Lord, ask my sister to come and help me in the kitchen.” Jesus looks Martha in the eye and says to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worked up about so many different things. I will not take away from Mary what she has chosen. She has chosen to sit at my feet and worship me. She has chosen the best thing.”

So what is the point of this story? The main point is that we must find time in the hustle and bustle of life to spend time with God. We constantly need to come before God with all our worries, problems and learn to share them with him.

(The original story of Martha and Mary as Jesus taught it is found in Luke Chapter 10 verses 38-41 in the Good News Bible.)

Prayer
Dear Jesus,
I easily get worked up and stressed by life.
Please help me to lay all your worries at your feet.
