| God is Love Love Never Gives UpLove will never give up. It believes to the end. It believes Good will overcome evil. It stands by the Truth. Love thinks of putting others first. Love is not easily offended and it does not seek revenge.Love forgives. Love is willing to put the past behind and move forward. Love believes, hopes and endures right to the end. Everything else will disappear but Love is the only thing that will remain.Love has never been more clearly demonstrated than in the story of the prodigal son. The son leaves home after asking his Father for his share of the inheritance. The Father gives him his share of the inheritance.The son takes a long journey away from home and spends all his money on drugs, alcohol and prostitutes. When all his money was gone so his friends also left him. He was now alone, desperate and in need of help.This was such a low point in his life that he found himself a job feeding the pigs because no one gave him anything to eat.In his desperation, the son decided to make the journey back to his Father. He thought to himself, the servants in my Father’s house are better off than me and here I am starving. I will go back home to my Father.In his heart he had prepared a speech to say, “Father, I have sinned against God and against you. Please forgive me and receive me as one of your servants.Unknown to the son, the Father had been looking out for him from the day he had left home. The Father had never given up hope of his son returning home. The Father loved his son so much.From a distance, the Father saw his son returning home. The son’s head was held down as he was unsure what sort of reception he would get from his Father.The Father saw the state of his son and felt compassion for him. He did not hesitate and ran towards him. He threw his arms around him and welcomed him back home. He did not give the son time to say the speech he had prepared.The Father said to his servants, “Let’s have a party my son was lost but now has been found.”The same welcome awaits you and me. All we have to do is come back to our Heavenly Father who is perfect in his Love for each one of us.(St Paul’s account on Love is found in the Bible. 1 Corinthian’s Chapter 13.
