I Want to Follow Jesus

Riches in Heaven or riches on earth
A rich young man came to Jesus and said, “Good Sir, what must I do to be sure that after I die, I am with God in heaven?”
Jesus answered, “Why do you call me Good. Only God alone is good.  You know the laws given down by God,  Do not kill, Do not take what is not yours, Do not tell lies, Do not accuse anyone wrongly, and talk to your parents respectfully.”  
“Sir, I have kept these laws since I was a young boy.” said the young man.
Jesus looked at him with love and said to him. “You are still missing one thing. Go and sell everything you have and give the money to the poor. Then come and Follow Me and you will have riches in Heaven.”
The young man felt very disappointed at what Jesus had said to him. He walked away sad because he was rich and did not want to give up his wealth to follow Jesus.
Jesus is also saying to you and me, Come Follow Me. Jesus does not ask everyone to sell everything and give all their money to the poor but he does except us to share what we have with those in need.
Then you and I will have riches in Heaven. Riches in Heaven are more important than riches on earth.  Riches on earth do not last very long. They disappear when we die but riches in Heaven are everlasting.
Dear friend, let me ask you one question, “Where do you want your riches to be in Heaven or on earth?”

Prayer
Jesus, I want to follow you,
Let me see your foot prints so I may place my feet in them.
Teach me what it means to follow you.
Please teach me what it means to have riches in Heaven.
I ask this in Jesus name
